A Republican candidate for Congress in California is openly running as a Holocaust denier, calling it a "complete fabrication" in an interview with The New York Times published Friday. John Fitzgerald secured one of the top two spots in California's "jungle" primary system last month, where the top two vote-getters regardless of party affiliation advance to the general election. Fitzgerald is slated to face off against incumbent Democratic Rep. Mark DeSaulnier in November in the reliably blue district near San Francisco. Fitzgerald included calls on his campaign website for people to note “Jewish supremacism” and said last week on a radio show hosted by an anti-Semitic commentator that “everything we’ve been told about the Holocaust is a lie,” according to The Times. The candidate told The Times this week that the Holocaust was a “complete fabrication” and placed blame for the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks on the Israeli government.

How Nasty can you get?

Arizona GOP Senate candidate Kelli Ward compared political correctness to cancer on Monday, just two days after Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) died of brain cancer. “Political correctness is like a cancer!” Ward tweeted. McCain, who was a six-term United States senator from Arizona, died Saturday, a little more than a year after his diagnosis. He was 81. Ward sparked criticism earlier Saturday when she suggested that a Friday statement issued by McCain’s family about discontinuing treatment for his cancer was intended to hurt her campaign. "I think they wanted to have a particular narrative that they hope is negative to me,” Ward commented on a since-deleted Facebook post by one of her campaign staffers who questioned the timing of the McCain family’s statement. McCain died hours after she made the comment. In another Facebook comment, Ward appeared to blame the media for the reaction to her initial remarks.

Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar, a Republican from the party's most conservative wing, is standing for re-election in November. Fearing for the future, his siblings have thrown their weight behind their choice of candidate in a powerful new TV advert. The striking part? It's not their brother. Nope - six of Mr Gosar's siblings have spoken out to endorse his rival, Democrat David Brill. If that sounds brutal on paper, the execution is even more savage. To maximise its impact, the ad doesn't name the six speakers until the end - they're just presented as normal Arizona folks. It opens with "Grace, rural physician", declaring, "Paul Gosar the congressman isn't doing anything to support rural America." "Paul's absolutely not working for his district," says "David, lawyer". "If he actually cared about people in rural Arizona, I bet he'd be fighting for social security, for better access to healthcare," agrees "Jennifer, medical interpreter". "He is not listening to you, and he does not have your best interests at heart," "Tim" agrees - before dropping the bombshell line: "My name is Tim Gosar".

So is this a shock move from David, Tim, Jennifer, Gaston, Joan, and Grace? Local paper the Arizona Republic calls it "brutal, but not unexpected". Mr Gosar made headlines after the violent neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in August 2017, by suggesting it was planned by "the Left" to undermine Donald Trump. He then branded Democratic Party donor George Soros a Nazi collaborator in an interview with Vice News. Horrified, seven of his siblings signed an open letter to the Kingman Daily Miner, stating: "It is extremely upsetting to have to call you out on this, Paul, but you've forced our hand with your deceit and anti-Semitic dog whistle." Paul Gosar's other controversies include boycotting a 2015 speech to Congress by Pope Francis. He criticised the pontiff's support for climate change, calling it "questionable science" deployed "to guilt people into leftist policies".

Well, Trump mocking Christine Ford, arguing her allegations were all made up and women who protested were paid by George Soros and a mob, etc. etc. (see here and here), but how about this for a mob:

Attendees at President Trump's campaign rally in Iowa on Tuesday night chanted "lock her up" after the president questioned whether Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) leaked allegations of sexual misconduct against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Trump invoked Feinstein while ticking through a series of attacks on various Democrats, including Sens. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), Cory Booker (N.J.) and Richard Blumenthal (Conn.). "How about Sen. Feinstein? That’s another beauty," Trump said. "'Did you leak the documents?'" he added, before portraying an exaggerated nervous denial from Feinstein. The crowd broke into chants of "lock her up," prompting laughter from Trump.

It's even far from certain that the Senate Democrats leaked this info:

• She could have used it sooner, enabling a proper FBI investigation (not the mock one that was actually conducted), but promised Dr. Ford to guarantee her privacy.
  
• Dr. Ford told a few friends, the leak could have come from them.'
  
• As if leaking is such a big crime anyway, it happens all the time.

The Florida GOP is supporting someone who has been banned from numerous platforms because of her anti-Muslim hate and has: 

• Described herself as a “proud Islamophobe" and called Muslims “savages” who purportedly “ruin everything.”  
  
• Tweeted in response to July 2017 news that “over 2,000 migrants have died crossing the Mediterranean so far this year”: “Good. [clapping emoji] Here's to 2,000 more.” 
  
• Wrote of the 2019 mass murder of 51 people in Christchurch: “Nobody cares about Christchurch. I especially don’t.”  
  
• Said: “How many more people need to die before everyone agrees that Islam is cancer & we should never let another Muslim into the civilized world?”
  

Loomer has also worked for Alex Jones’ Infowars network. Jones and Infowars have pushed numerous conspiracy theories about 9/11 and school shootings. The Daily Beast wrote that after the February 14, 2018, school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, Infowars sent Loomer to Parkland, where she “accused students who spoke out against gun violence of being puppets. ‘It’s obvious these kids are reading a screen or notes someone else wrote for them,’ Loomer tweeted of students who spoke out against gun violence.”

Ignored the ruling. Was held in contempt of court in 2019, and the Department of Education was ordered to pay a fine of $100,000. “At best it is gross negligence, at worst it’s an intentional flouting of my order,” the presiding federal judge said..
