Trump for women!
#11
She can't be serious!

Quote:"That says less about me than it does about this president," she said. "Empowering working moms is the heart of the president's agenda, particularly when it comes to things like tax reform."

Yet critics of President Donald Trump, such as the left-leaning Center for American Progress, have pointed out in the past that his policies could dramatically roll back certain gains working mothers have made in recent years.

Repealing or repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act, for instance, could raise the uninsured rate among mothers. That rate had fallen to 13.6% from 17.4% in 2014 under the law, commonly called Obamacare, and had a particularly significant effect in states that opted for the Medicaid expansion, according to a 2016 Urban Institute study.

Quote:Donald Trump's government has issued a ruling that allows employers to opt out of providing free birth control to millions of Americans. The rule allows employers and insurers to decline to provide birth control if doing so violates their "religious beliefs" or "moral convictions". Fifty-five million women benefited from the Obama-era rule, which made companies provide free birth control. As a candidate, Mr Trump had pledged to eliminate that requirement. The mandate had been a key feature of so-called Obamacare - President Obama's efforts to overhaul the US healthcare system.

Quote:But when Trump was asked on Saturday about the Weinstein accusations in the context of his own history of sexual harassment and abuse allegations — particularly after the bombshell Access Hollywood tape released one year ago in which Trump boasted about groping women without their consent — Trump dismissed the comparison. "That's locker room. That's locker room," he said. Since the Times report on Weinstein, other women have come forward to report similar allegations. HuffPost reported on Friday that the TV journalist Lauren Sivan, who was previously a news anchor on local cable channel Long Island 12, alleged that a decade ago Weinstein trapped her in the hallway of a restaurant that was closed to the public and masturbated in front of her until he ejaculated.

Curious, everybody is falling over the Hollywood producer Weinstein (and it appears fully justified), but there are numerous women who have come forward to accuse the President as well but everybody seems to have forgotten that.

Who me? P**y grabbing?

Quote:White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders suggested during Friday's press briefing that the women who accused President Donald Trump of sexual misconduct were lying. Sanders was asked about the women in conjunction with the score of stories dominating news coverage involving prominent men being accused of serial sexual harassment or assault by dozens of women. Some included Hollywood producer and film executive Harvey Weinstein, director James Toback, and political journalist Mark Halperin. During a press conference alongside Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in the Rose Garden, Trump said the accusations leveled against him by roughly a dozen women following the release of the "Access Hollywood" tape last fall were "fake news."

Isn't that what they all say, including O'Reilly, Weinstein, James Toback, etc.

Amazing. Same (multiple) accusations, different outcome. One is now a pariah, the other President... But why??

Quote:The details of Zervos’s legal complaint are familiar to anyone who has followed the Harvey Weinstein scandal. All the elements are there: the power imbalance. The putatively professional meetings that are actually settings for sexual assault. The older man trading on the connections he can offer, the plum jobs he controls, to pressure a younger woman into sex. But Summer Zervos’s story isn’t about Harvey Weinstein. It’s about Donald J. Trump.

Zervos, a former contestant on The Apprentice, first came forward with her allegations against Trump last October, and filed suit against him in New York state court in January. Trump’s legal team is trying to get the case dismissed. Zervos’s lawyers, meanwhile, have subpoenaed any documents the Trump campaign might have on Zervos and nine other women who have made accusations against Trump, as well as “any woman alleging that Donald J. Trump touched her inappropriately.”

Since the allegations against Weinstein became public earlier this month, many have noted the similarities with Trump: two powerful men, both repeatedly accused of using their power and fame and wealth to prey on women sexually. One big difference, though, as some of Trump’s accusers have pointed out, is that while Weinstein has been ousted from his company and denounced by former friends, Trump is president of the United States, and enjoys the continued backing of his party and political allies. This difference says a lot, not just about the mores of Washington and Hollywood but about partisanship, power, and accountability.

This could get interesting..

Quote:A vast majority of respondents in a new poll think Congress should investigate sexual harassment allegations made against President Trump. A new Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday finds 70 percent of respondents think Congress should investigate the allegations. Just one-quarter of respondents think Congress shouldn't investigate the accusations.

Quote:President Trump is reportedly furious with U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley for saying that the women who have accused him of sexual misconduct “should be heard.” The Associated Press reported Monday that Haley’s comments angered Trump as the claims against him have resurfaced in recent weeks. “They should be heard, and they should be dealt with,” Haley said Sunday on “Face The Nation.” “And I think we heard from them before the election. And I think any woman who has felt violated or felt mistreated in any way, they have every right to speak up.” Two people familiar with Trump told the AP he was enraged by her remarks. Trump has reportedly grown most frustrated with the claims in recent weeks, comparing the situation to that of Roy Moore, the Alabama special election candidate accused of committing multiple sexual transgressions with teenaged girls when he was in his 30s.

Quote:White House chief of staff John Kelly said in a new statement he was “shocked” by allegations of domestic abuse leveled against staff secretary Rob Porter after Porter announced his resignation earlier Wednesday. "I was shocked by the new allegations released today against Rob Porter. There is no place for domestic violence in our society,” Kelly said in the statement.

CBS News reported Wednesday that the allegations against Porter prevented him from obtaining a full security clearance. Multiple people in the White House were aware of the allegations before they were reported by media, according to reports.

Quote:The White House was reportedly aware for months that top staffer Rob Porter was accused of domestic abuse by multiple women — but they simply ignored the allegations. Senior aides to President Donald Trump even tried to defend Porter after his two ex-wifes went public with the stories of abuse, CNN reported on Wednesday. Nevertheless, Chief of staff John Kelly called Porter “a man of true integrity and honor and I can’t say enough good things about him.” Colbie Holderness, Porter’s first wife, and Jennifer Willoughby, Porter’s second wife, both confirmed that they spoke with the FBI. Porter never received a security clearance.

And of course Kelly, who now plays innocent, knew all along as Rob Porter didn't have a security clearance exactly because of these abuse allegations (by three different women)..

Quote:President Donald Trump is reportedly considering Bill Shine, a former Fox News executive who was close to ousted network chair Roger Ailes, as his communications director to replace Hope Hicks — even though Shine was named in multiple lawsuits or allegations related to sexual harassment or racial discrimination at Fox News. Multiple media outlets reported on Wednesday that Shine, who stepped down as Fox News co-president in May 2017, is the top contender.

The New York Times, citing two people familiar with the decision, reported that Shina has met with Trump in recent weeks and offered him the communications director job, while Kellyanne Conway declined the post and Mercedes Schlapp, a communications adviser considered to be a contender, hadn’t been offered it. Shine was ousted from Fox News last year over concerns about his handling of sexual harassment complaints at the network. He was a high-ranking executive at Fox when allegations of misconduct were launched against Ailes and former host Bill O’Reilly. And he was co-president of Fox News when its parent company, 21st Century Fox, paid settlements with women who had accused O’Reilly of sexual harassment.
