A recent USA Today poll suggests nearly one in four Republicans would defect to the Democrats if the general election was a contest between Hillary Clinton and Trump. Just seven per cent of Democrats would head the other way. It’s no wonder that prominent pollster Stan Greenberg has said the Republicans are in a state of civil war.
