Terrorists wanted to get firearms to launch gun attacks on Britain’s streets in five extremist plots foiled in the last two years, police have revealed, as they admitted that 800 legally owned guns had gone missing. In a rare joint appeal, the National Crime Agency and Scotland Yard’s counter-terrorism command urged the public to report fears about lax gun security among legal owners as well as criminals handling firearms..

Rowley said that out of 10 plots disrupted in the last two years, half had involved jihadis wanting to get guns. Britain’s tight gun laws and being an island means availability of guns is relatively low.

Here is how the White House spokesman defended the executive order banning people from 7 Muslim countries:

SPICER: Hold on. David, but there was a very short period time in which we had something execute that ensured that the people of the United States were safe. Everybody's been protected. The safety of individuals. What happened if we didn't act and somebody was killed?

So why does the same logic not apply to gun control, which is responsible for several orders of magnitude more deaths

Lawmakers have struck down an Obama administration rule that attempts to keep guns out of the hands of people who suffer from mental illness.  The Republican-controlled House voted 235-180 in an apparent effort to improve gun ownership under President Trump. The rule affected nearly 75,000 Social Security recipients diagnosed with mental health conditions, such as extreme anxiety and schizophrenia, and are considered incapable of managing their own affairs.
