Quote:Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson got into heated exchange with Fox News analyst Ralph Peters on Tuesday, after Peters likened him to a Nazi apologist for his stance on Russian President Vladimir Putin. "You sound like Charles Lindbergh in 1938, saying, 'Hitler hasn’t attacked us,'" Peters charged.

Carlson was making the case that Americans should be more supportive of the U.S. working with Putin and Russia in fighting ISIS in Syria. "You just compared me to a Nazi apologist because I asked the question," Carlson fired back. "Slow down! Slow down! Which is, why not contravene American interest with a group trying to kill ISIS?"

Peters accused Carlson of cheering for Putin, saying the Russian president is as bad as Hitler. "Vladimir Putin is comparable," Peters said. "He hates America. He wants to hurt us. And I'm sorry, all this suddenly 'Vladimir Putin is a good guy, Russia's OK' — not it's not. Russia is evil. Russia is our enemy." Peters said Putin is "as close to pure evil as I can find" and "also brilliant."

Quote:A GOP donor and opposition researcher who reportedly tried to work with Russian hackers to retrieve deleted emails from a private server used by Hillary Clinton, has committed suicide, according to public records cited in a Chicago Tribune report. Peter Smith killed himself days after he was interviewed by The Wall Street Journal where he claimed to be working with Russian hackers to retrieve some 33,000 deleted Clinton emails and pass them to Michael Flynn, a former campaign adviser to Donald Trump.

Death records from Minnesota show that Smith, 81, killed himself in a hotel through "asphyxiation due to displacement of oxygen in confined space with helium" on May 14. Smith was found with a bag over his head, a helium source, and a suicide note that read there was "NO FOUL PLAY WHATSOEVER" regarding his death. Smith also apologized to the authorities and attributed his final decision to a "recent bad turn in health," according to the records cited by the Tribune, which also claimed his $5 million life insurance policy was close to expiring.

Quote:Two of Pope Francis’ close confidantes have published a scathing rebuke of how a certain strand of what they call religious “fundamentalism” has become fused with politics in America. The Vatican-vetted article, published in the Rome-based Jesuit publication La Civiltà Cattolica, calls out “evangelical fundamentalists” and explicitly mentions President Donald Trump, who identifies as a Presbyterian, and his adviser Steve Bannon, who identifies as Catholic.

The authors of the article are the Rev. Antonio Spadaro, the editor-in-chief of La Civiltà Cattolica, and Rev. Marcelo Figueroa, a Presbyterian pastor who serves as editor-in-chief of an edition of the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano published for Francis’ home country of Argentina.

The article attacks the decades-old partnership between two strands of American Christianity ― fundamentalist evangelicals and Catholics who are brought together by the “same desire for religious influence in the political sphere.” Although these two groups differ on a number of theological issues, they have come together since the 1980s and 1990s over issues like abortion and same-sex marriage, according to the AP.

Quote:Representative Louie Gohmert (R-TX) thinks that transgender members of the U.S. military are an “advertising bonanza” for “radical Islamists.” “When it’s advertised that the United States Congress is in favor of taking men and surgically making them into women with the money that they would use to protect the nation otherwise…then it is an advertising bonanza for the radical Islamists,” Gohmert said Friday in a speech on the house floor, after referring to transness as a “type of lifestyle.” “Because my Muslim friends tell me, the recruits, you’re right, if that’s how stupid they are, this society has no right to remain on the earth. We need to take them out. They are too stupid.” He had referred to these unnamed “Muslim friends” earlier in his speech: “friendly Muslims — Muslim friends, yes, I do have them from around the world.”

Quote:The White House just responded to concerns it would release voters’ sensitive personal information by releasing a bunch of voters’ sensitive personal information. Last month, the White House’s “election integrity” commission sent out requests to every state asking for all voters’ names, party IDs, addresses, and even the last four digits of their Social Security numbers, among other information. The White House then said this information would be made available to the public.

A lot of people did not like the idea, fearing that their personal information could be made public. So some sent emails to the White House, demanding that it rescind the requestThis week, the White House decided to make those emails from concerned citizens public through the commission's new website. But the administration made a big mistake: It didn’t censor any of the personal information — such as names, email addresses, actual addresses, and phone numbers — included in those emails.

Deltagate seems much ado about nothing..

Quote:On Saturday, political commentator Ann Coulter launched into an epic multiday Twitter tirade after accusing Delta Air Lines of giving away her seat on a flight that day. In her tweetstorm, Coulter said Delta gave away an extended-legroom economy-class seat, for which she paid $30, to another passenger. (Delta has said it will refund the $30 Coulter spent on her seat upgrade.) This event led Coulter to call Delta the "worst airline in America" followed by pictures of her seatmates and a Delta flight attendant in an attempt to publicly shame them. In other tweets, Coulter complained about everything from the airline's Wi-Fi service to the time she spent carefully selecting her seat. At one point, the political commentator went as far as comparing Delta's staff to the Stasi, East Germany's secret police, and even threatened to call CEO Ed Bastian.

According to Delta, Coulter originally booked seat 15F. On the aircraft operating this flight, 15F was located by the window in an emergency-exit row. But the airline said Coulter changed her seat to 15D, which was by the aisle, within 24 hours of the flight. The mix-up that set off the tweetstorm came at the time of boarding when Delta accidentally moved Coulter to 15A, a window seat. As a result, Coulter didn't actually lose any of the extra legroom on which she spent $30. But she did have to sit in a window seat as opposed to one along the aisle. Delta says its staff made several attempts to reach out to Coulter over the weekend but did not hear back from her until Sunday evening.

Republican's going full Galt..

Quote:Seattle's rich should engage in upper-class "civil disobedience" and refuse to pay their city taxes, Washington state's Republican leaders said. After the city of Seattle passed a new income tax on households earning more than $500,000, the Washington State Republican Party called for taxpayers to "forcefully resist" the tax by refusing pay, file or comply with it. "It deserves nothing less than civil disobedience," the state GOP said in a statement.

Quote:Secretary of Energy Rick Perry conducted a fake phone call with two Russian pranksters, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday.  Perry believed he was speaking with the Ukrainian prime minister, but was actually talking to Alexei Stolyarov and Vladimir Kuznetsov, or the “Jerky Boys of Russia.” The Energy department confirmed to the news outlet that the call occurred.  “Secretary Perry is the latest target of two Russian pranksters," Shaylyn Hynes, a spokeswoman for the Energy Department, told Bloomberg in an email. "These individuals are known for pranking high-level officials and celebrities, particularly those who are supportive of an agenda that is not in line with their governments. In this case, the energy security of Ukraine.”  The two pranksters reportedly presented a new fuel created from manure and alcohol to Perry during the phone call.
